Rules for Citizen Input at Regular Meeting

At the time of a hearing on an application, it is at the conclusion of a witness’s testimony, or after the conclusion of the applicant’s testimony that the Chair shall allow the members of the public and any interested parties to ask questions of such witness, and may permit reasonable cross-examination by council representing an objector or interested party. The meeting is also open to the public for items not appearing on the Agenda in the beginning of each meeting.


Members


The Zoning Board consists of 7 members and 4 alternates appointed by the Mayor and Township Committee. Term of service for regular members is 4 years. The term of service for alternates is 2 years. Call the Township Clerk's Office at 732-615-2015 for more information.

Planning Department

The Planning Department provides the Zoning Board with variance reviews and administrative support. Department personnel are also available to the public to explain specific applications, as well as oversee engineering and legal support. The records of all applications pending before the Board are located in our active files.

Responsibilities
The Zoning Board’s purpose is to hear cases for requests for variance(s) where certain types of land developments and property improvements are proposed. The Zoning Board may hear and decide requests for interpretation of the zoning map and zoning regulations as well as other powers as outlined in the state Municipal Land Use Law.
