Green Team Advisory Committee

Green Team
Middletown Green Team

The mission of the Green Team is to advise the Township Committee on ways to improve municipal operations with “green” initiatives which are economically and environmentally sound through research and evaluation.

In July of 2009, the Middletown Township passed Resolution 09-199 supporting the Township’s participation in the Sustainable Jersey certification program. Sustainable Jersey is a nonprofit organization that provides tools, training and financial incentives to support communities as they pursue sustainability programs. By supporting community efforts to reduce waste, cut greenhouse gas emissions, and improve environmental equity, Sustainable Jersey is empowering communities to build a better world for future generations.

All communities participating in the Sustainable Jersey program must establish a Green Team. Green Teams provide the leadership to develop plans, implement programs and assist with educational opportunities that support the creation of a sustainable community. In October of 2009, the Mayor and Township Committee formally established the Middletown Township Green Team Advisory Committee by Resolution 09-253. The Middletown Green Team is comprised of employees and volunteers who meet to focus on completing actions required for Sustainable Jersey certification, as well as other volunteer initiatives to promote environmental sustainability in our community. Members of the Green Team are appointed by the Mayor. To express interest in joining the Green Team, please contact the Township Clerk’s Office by calling (732) 615-2015 for assistance or complete the form online to apply for a board vacancy.
