Port Monmouth Flood Control Project

On January 25th, Middletown Township, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection hosted a public information session at VFW Post 2179. At the meeting, there was a brief presentation on the status of the Port Monmouth Flood Control Project and a question-and-answer portion.

The US Army Corps of Engineers Port Monmouth Flood Protection project is underway.  The project is being constructed through five contracts:Port Mon Phase II Contract Map

Contract 1:    Wetlands Mitigation (Ongoing - Related to Contracts 4b & 5)

Contract 2:    Pews Creek 40-ft Wide Flood Gate and Pumping Station (Completed)

Contract 3:    Port Monmouth Road Floodwall (Completed)

Contract 4a:  Hwy 36 Pavement Raising and Main Street Electric Utility Upgrades (Completed)

Contract 4b:  Floodwall & Levee System along Hwy 36 along Creek Road to Broadway (Ongoing)

Contract 5:    Floodwall & Levee System along Main St and Pumping Station on Main St (Ongoing)
