Middletown Officially Opens New Dog Park

Members of our Township Committee and Administration, DPW, and Recreation departments were excited to open the gates to the new dog park!
Last weekend, our community celebrated the official grand opening of the Middletown Dog Park! Located at Tindall Park, this new facility has agility courses for dogs to enjoy and is divided into two separate fenced-in areas: one for small dogs and one for large dogs. There are also benches for dog owners, leash holders, and water fountains for both people and dogs. It was a paw-some day filled with local vendors, treats, giveaways, and fun! Visit www.middletownnj.org/dogpark for more information about the park.

Middletown's Office of Emergency Management Shares Earthquake Safety Tips
Following New Jersey's recent 4.8 magnitude earthquake and aftershocks, the Middletown Office of Emergency Management encourages the community to review the following safety tips from the United States Geological Survey (USGS): - If you are INDOORS -- STAY THERE! Get under a desk or table and hang on to it (Drop, Cover, and Hold on!) or move into a hallway or against an inside wall. STAY CLEAR of windows, fireplaces, and heavy furniture or appliances. GET OUT of the kitchen, which is a dangerous place (things can fall on you). DON'T run downstairs or rush outside while the building is shaking or while there is danger of falling and hurting yourself or being hit by falling glass or debris.
- If you are OUTSIDE -- get into the OPEN, away from buildings, power lines, chimneys, and anything else that might fall on you.
- If you are DRIVING -- stop, but carefully. Move your car as far out of traffic as possible. DO NOT stop on or under a bridge or overpass or under trees, light posts, power lines, or signs. STAY INSIDE your car until the shaking stops. When you RESUME driving, watch for breaks in the pavement, fallen rocks, and bumps in the road at bridge approaches.
- If you are in a MOUNTAINOUS AREA -- watch out for falling rock, landslides, trees, and other debris that could be loosened by quakes.
- If you are near the OCEAN - see these safety rules from NOAA's Tsunami Warning Center.

April is Autism Awareness Month. In recognition of this month-long celebration, the Middletown Township Police Department (MTPD) is participating in the Blue Envelope Program which was developed to assist drivers with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and police officers working with them during a traffic stop. Blue Envelopes are available at the Police Desk window, located at the front entrance of the Middletown Township Police Department Headquarters (1 Kings Highway). The Police Desk window is open 24/7. Enclosed in the Blue Envelope is an emergency contact form. The Blue Envelope Program is sponsored by the Monmouth County Police Chiefs Association. Click HERE to see an example of the Blue Envelope.
