  1. Senior Center Supervisor

Senior Center Supervisor - NOW HIRING!

Description
The Township of Middletown is seeking a full-time Senior Center Supervisor. Under general direction of the Recreation Director, the Senior Center Supervisor supervises and coordinates Senior Center activities within the Senior Center Division, including supervising Senior Center programs, staff, volunteers, and facilities. The person in this position will be responsible for coordinating assigned activities with other divisions, outside agencies, and the general public; designing, implementing and evaluating program goals and objectives; and managing annual senior grant from the County, which requires financial experience and budgeting. Work requires limited supervision and the use of independent judgment. Hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm and salary range is $35,000 – $48,000 (commensurate with experience).

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and facilitate special events for the Township, including themes, concepts, and objectives in relation to organizational goals and initiatives
  • Facilitate various sponsorship opportunities
  • Research and recommend opportunities for special events and community partnerships with outside organizations
  • Create and develop marketing materials and manage advertisements for special events, as well as for the Recreation Department as a whole
  • Coordinate and supervise the work activities of employees and volunteers at events
  • Participate in the development of the budget for special events and in the negotiation of event contracts and service agreements
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Must have a valid N.J. Driver’s License along with knowledge and prior experience overseeing operations, services, and activities of a senior services program
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of social services program development and implementation, and of methods and techniques of recruiting, training, and developing volunteers
  • Experience with budget preparation and control, purchasing protocols, staff supervision, training, and performance evaluation
  • Skilled in prioritizing, organizing, and managing multiple simultaneous projects, and applying independent judgment, personal discretion, and resourcefulness in interpreting and applying guidelines
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Excellence in the Microsoft Package
  • Bachelor’s Degree with major course work in recreation, geriatrics, social work, or a related field
  • Two (2) to four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience coordinating social service programs, including one year of administrative and/or lead supervisory experience
