Middletown Recycling Center to Re-Open
Labor Day Weekend

Recycling Center Update

The Middletown Recycling Center (52 Kanes Lane) will be closed to complete renovations through the end of the month and is scheduled to re-open
on Friday, September 2nd.

Renovations began at the end of June, including increasing access and efficiency to the recycling drop-off bins, improving traffic circulation, allowing room for the expansion of recyclable commodities in the future, and ensuring ADA compliance to both the Middletown Recycling Center and Administrative Building. The project was delayed slightly due to several unforeseen, yet necessary, utility upgrades. You can check out construction progress by visiting
www.middletownnj.org/rcupdates.

How to Prevent Spotted Lanternflies from Spreading

Spotted Lanternflies Have Returned: Tips for How to Prevent the Spread and Report Sightings to NJDA

Spotted lanternflies are being spotted everywhere! This insect is a serious invasive pest that feeds on sap from over 70 different plant species. Spotted lanternflies can negatively impact our agriculture, economy, and everyday life through the honeydew they excrete, which eventually turns into mold.

The Middletown Health Department advises residents to kill and report them to the NJDA when spotted. The Middletown Health Department also encourages residents to utilize the NJDA's checklist for spotted lanternfly quarantine areas, in an effort to stop the spread.
