On Thursday evening, Middletown Township and T&M Associates co-hosted the Kings Highway Improvement Project Public Information Center at Town Hall. The meeting focused on the upcoming plans to improve Kings Highway from Route 35 near Town Hall to Conover Avenue. The project will rehabilitate Kings Highway and portions of nearby roadway segments to improve pavement conditions, safety, and overall ride quality. Work is being advanced using federal grant funding and performance-based roadway evaluations. Current concepts include milling and resurfacing the roadway, new high-visibility striping and upgraded signage, drainage inlet and pipe improvements, ADA-compliant curb ramps, widening of existing sidewalk from Conover Avenue to New Monmouth Road, new lighting along the sidewalk corridor, and potential guiderail installation. Thank you to everyone who attended the meeting and provided feedback. Project information will be posted at middletownnj.org/kingshighway. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact Project Manager Mike Misiaszek at 732-615-2099 or mmisiaszek@middletownnj.org.

Learn About Rebecca Murray's Patriotic Actions in Second Episode of Revolutionary Reflections
To commemorate our nation's 250th anniversary, the Middletown America 250 Committee launched Revolutionary Reflections — a mini-docuseries exploring the real lives, struggles, and choices of Middletown’s residents during the Revolutionary War. Learn about the families, conflicts, and untold stories that defined Middletown’s role in America’s fight for independence. Our second episode, narrated by Poricy Park Conservancy Trustee, Linda Maresca, highlights Rebecca Murray who had lived in the Murray Farmhouse at Poricy Park (345 Oak Hill Road) during the Revolutionary War. She was married to Joseph Murray, a devoted American patriot who served in the Monmouth County Militia and was infamously ambushed and assassinated while tending his cornfield. Despite personal loss, Rebecca demonstrated patriotic service by paying the Middletown supply tax, supporting the revolutionary cause at a critical moment in history. Her story reflects the resilience and quiet courage of those who helped shape America’s path to independence. Click HERE to watch the episode on YouTube.
