A strong Nor’easter is forecast to bring heavy rain, winds out of the northeast up to 60 mph, and coastal flooding to our area on Sunday morning through Monday evening. Low-lying and waterfront roads may become impassable, and power outages are possible due to wind, downed trees, and storm stress.
Township officials met earlier this afternoon to prepare in advance of the storm. First responders — Police, Fire, EMS, and OEM — will be fully staffed and on standby throughout the event. All critical equipment, vehicles, pumps, and generators have been inspected, fueled, and are ready for deployment. Click HERE to read our weather advisory for more information about the storm and tips on how to stay safe.

Last weekend, Lincroft Fire Company (LFC) hosted a celebration to recognize Middletown Township Fire Department (MTFD) firefighter Dennis W. Fowler for his 50 years of volunteerism. During the event, Mayor Tony Perry, Deputy Mayor Rick Hibell, and Committeeman Ryan Clarke presented him with a certificate and Key to the Township. Over the course of the past five decades, Dennis has served with distinction as Captain, Line Officer Lieutenant, and President of the LFC. He was also the chief of the MTFD in 1996 and served as the department's public information officer. Dennis's volunteerism has also extended beyond the firehouse to other emergency response units. His legacy of service is a remarkable example for generations of volunteer firefighters who will follow in his footsteps. We sincerely thank Dennis for his unwavering dedication to the safety and well-being of our community!

At approximately 4:39 AM on Thursday, the Middletown Township Fire Department (MTFD) was dispatched to the 200 block of Everett Road in the Lincroft section of Middletown for a reported structure fire. The resident reported being awakened by smoke alarms sounding and was able to alert her family and safely evacuate the home. Middletown Township police officers arrived shortly thereafter, confirmed an active fire, and verified that all occupants were out of the residence. Firefighters from the Lincroft Fire Company and River Plaza Fire Company responded, along with Chief of Department Anthony Fulciniti, Deputy Chief Daniel Kelly, and Assistant Chiefs Kevin Morrissey, Jacob Lawrence, and James Abbes. Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy fire showing from the residence and immediately initiated an aggressive interior attack using hose lines. Chief Fulciniti requested a box and second-alarm assignment, which brought additional resources from Middletown Fire Company No. 1, Navesink Hook and Ladder Company, Belford Engine Company, and Old Village Fire Company. Due to deteriorating interior conditions and the volume of fire, operations transitioned to a defensive strategy utilizing a tower ladder to apply large volumes of water and bring the fire under control. The Middletown Township Fire Department’s Air Unit, Fire Police, and Safety Unit responded to support operations. The Holmdel Fire Department provided additional manpower at the scene. Emergency medical support was provided by Middletown Emergency Medical Services (MEMS), Colts Neck EMS, Port Monmouth First Aid Squad, Lincroft First Aid Squad, and Monmouth County’s Medical Ambulance Bus (MAB-6). No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Middletown Township Fire Prevention Office under the direction of Edward “Buddy” Skelly.

NJAW Lead Service Line Replacement Program Door-to-Door Canvassing Continues
CDM Smith, on behalf of New Jersey American Water (NJAW), started a door-to-door canvassing effort related to the Lead Service Line Replacement Program (LSLRP) in Middletown on Monday, February 3rd. The team will be working in the Leonardo Elementary School District and Navesink Elementary School District in Area 2. All CDM Smith inspectors will wear co-branded (NJAW and CDM Smith) high visibility logo vests and will have NJAW-issued Contractor ID badges. Inspectors will introduce themselves and the program to property owners and will then ask to enter the home to inspect the water service where it enters into the home (typically in a basement or crawl space). The inspector will take exterior photos of the property and interior photographs of the service material and record the pipe material identified. Inspections generally take 15 minutes or less. At no time will residents be asked for money. Any customer that prefers to not have an internal inspection completed will be directed to alternatives to the inspections including self-reporting. The Middletown Township Police Department is aware of the canvassing. If you have any questions about LSLRP, please email njawlead@cdmsmith.com and LeadFreeNJ@amwater.com.
