VFW Post 2179 POW/MIA Service
Committeewoman Kratz speaks about the importance of remembering our prisoners of war and missing soldiers at VFW Post 2179's POW/MIA ceremony.

Members of the Township Committee were honored to attend several events last weekend to support local causes. On Friday night, Committeewoman Kimberly Kratz attended VFW Post 2179's 40th annual POW/MIA service in honor of our soldiers who were either prisoners of war or have gone missing. Middletown is so thankful for their service and will never forget them.

Deputy Mayor Rick Hibell and Committeewoman Kimberly Kratz began their Saturday morning by attending Arts for Autism, hosted by Under My Skin For Life Foundation. The event had fun entertainment, a motorcycle run, vendors, and more! Proceeds were donated to OASIS tlc, a local nonprofit whose mission is to promote autism inclusion and acceptance by employing autistic adults to work on its farm.

Mayor Tony Perry and Deputy Mayor Rick Hibell ended the weekend by supporting the inaugural Love for Luca 5K, which Mayor Perry helped kick off. The race was held in memory of beloved 11-year-old resident Luca Iacono, who passed away from pediatric cancer in 2019. All proceeds were donated to Middletown-based nonprofit Infinite Love for Kids Fighting Cancer.

Middletown has so many incredible organizations, and the Township Committee is so happy to support them!

Troop 246 Boy Scout Soars to Eagle Scout Rank

Last weekend, Eamon Sullivan from Troop 246 advanced to the impressive rank of Eagle Scout. Deputy Mayor Rick Hibell attended his Eagle Scout Court of Honor ceremony to personally congratulate him and present him with a certificate on behalf of the Township Committee.

Eagle Scouts must complete service projects to earn this prestigious title. Eamon used his leadership skills to manage construction of a ChickShaw for OASIS tlc. A ChickShaw is a portable chicken coop that was designed to help keep chickens active and move many chickens at once. Building a ChickShaw makes it easier for OASIS tlc to raise more chickens in an efficient way. Eamon fundraised through GoFundMe, purchased all the supplies from hardware stores, prepared the wood with his father and brother, and worked alongside other scouts to build it.

Congratulations Eagle Scout Eamon Sullivan! Thank you for making a difference in Middletown!
