2022 Louis Bay 2nd Future Municipal Leaders Scholarship Competition

Middletown Township is excited to partner with the New Jersey State League of Municipalities for the 2022 Louis Bay 2^nd Future Municipal Leaders Scholarship Competition! We encourage high school juniors and seniors who live in Middletown and are either part of the Middletown Township Public School District or the Monmouth County Vocational School District to compete for a chance to win one of three $1,000 scholarships.

The essay for the statewide scholarship competition should be approximately 500 words and focus on the theme "What My Municipal Government Does Best". All applicants must bring the completed application and essay to the Mayor's Office located at Town Hall (1 Kings Highway) by Friday, March 11^th.

Middletown Township Committee to Host Workshop Meeting on
Monday, 3/7

The Middletown Township Committee Workshop Meeting on Monday, March 7, 2022 at 7:00 PM will be open to the public and made available to view and listen to through Webex Event Center.

The meeting will be taking place in the courtroom at the current Town Hall (1 Kings Highway). Due to the sunsetting of the public health emergency, public comments should be made in person. The meeting will also be made available to watch or listen to by clicking this event link. To call in to the meeting, dial 1-408-418-9388. The event access code is 2337 036 7497 followed by #. Enter 2022 if a passcode is required.

Prior to the Township Committee Meeting, the event link will be published on the Township’s Facebook page. The recording of the meeting will be aired on the Township’s TV channel (Verizon FiOS Channel 26/Comcast Cable Channel 20) and YouTube channel.

Registration Now Open for MAC's Spring Session

Registration for the Middletown Arts Center's (MAC) spring session is now open! Skills in the arts will bloom this season with classes in theater, dance, art, music, and adult movement! Classes will take place at both the Middletown Arts Center (36 Church Street) and the MAC Annex at the Middletown Reformed Church (121 Kings Highway). The two locations are minutes apart from each other.

Recreation Camp Registration Begins Tuesday, 3/15

Mark your calendars! Registration for Middletown Recreation's four summer camps begin on Tuesday, March 15^th for residents and on Tuesday, March 22^nd for non-residents. Registration opens at 10 AM on both dates.

Registration is done online via Recreation's CommunityPass website. Recreation recommends that users log in a few days before the registration dates to ensure you have access to your account and that all your information is up-to-date. If you don't have an account, please create one.

Register for MTPL's Virtual Author Visit and Learn about Women Athletes in NJ on Wednesday, 3/9 at 7 PM

Sports historian and author Mark Stewart is currently working on a series of books about the legends and lores of New Jersey sports, and his first book is about the history of women's sports in the Garden State. He will be leading this presentation as he discusses the women athletes in our state who have pushed boundaries and made history.

This event will begin at 7 PM and take place both via Zoom and in person at the Community Room. Registration is required.

Register Now for Recreation's March Madness Contest on Wednesday, 3/16 at 5 PM

Dribble, dish, & swish your way to victory at Middletown Recreation's March Madness event on Wednesday, March 16^th from 5 - 7 PM! Come to Croydon Hall (900 Leonardville Road) and showcase your basketball skills against your peers by competing in your specific age division. Competitors are timed on the ability to complete a basketball skills course which challenges the participants to dribble, pass, and shoot accurately and as quickly as possible.

Registration will take place via CommunityPass and cost $5 per player. The competition is open to participants ages 6 and older. Participants are also encouraged to bring a nonperishable food to donate. All donations received will be given to Middletown Social Services to be distributed to residents in need.

MMA Free Adult Mental Health First Aid Training

The upcoming training session will teach volunteers how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among adults. It will also include expanded content on trauma, substance use, and self-care.

VAC Four Chaplains Service Sunday, 3/20 at 2 PM

The Veterans Affairs Committee (VAC) is hosting its annual Four Chaplains Service on Sunday, March 20^th from 2 - 3 PM at VFW Post 2179 (1 Veterans Lane). The ceremony will honor the four chaplains who selflessly sacrificed their lives to save the troops aboard the U.S.A.T. Dorchester, which was struck by a torpedo during World War II. We encourage our community to join the VAC in commemorating the four chaplains' unity, bravery, and legacies.
