PI Sports, a Kentucky-based firm, has been engaged by Middletown Township and the Middletown Township Board of Education to conduct a needs assessment and future-use analysis of a proposed indoor sports and recreation facility in Port Monmouth. Your responses to this survey will help us evaluate potential opportunities for this proposed facility. The survey will only take about 5 minutes to complete. The deadline has been extended until midnight on Monday, February 28th. Your participation in the survey is completely voluntary, and all of your responses will be kept confidential. Mayor Tony Perry and the Township Committee presented our Black History Month proclamation to Friends of Cedar View board members at the Township Committee Meeting on Tuesday evening. Friends of Cedar View is a local nonprofit that is responsible for helping restore Cedar View Cemetery in Lincroft, which is the final resting place for Black Civil War Veterans.
We are so honored to be able to acknowledge Friends of Cedar View for their dedication to preserving the cemetery's history. We encourage the community to join us in uplifting Black voices and celebrating their accomplishments.

Earlier this week, Middletown Township and New Jersey Clean Communities hosted an informal question and answer session for small-business owners about the new plastic bag and polystyrene ban that will be enforced in New Jersey beginning May 4, 2022.
Mayor Tony Perry hosted the event and voiced the Township’s continued support for its businesses as they play a vital role in the fabric of our community. Other presenters included Township Administrator Tony Mercantante and New Jersey Clean Communities Executive Director JoAnn Gemenden, who broke down the law and answered questions. The goal of the law is to reduce the amount of plastic/polystyrene pollution in New Jersey which will have long-term positive impacts on both the environment and our communities.

Attention High School Juniors and Seniors: Apply for Future Municipal Leaders Scholarship Competition by Friday, 3/11

Middletown Township is excited to partner with the New Jersey State League of Municipalities for the 2022 Louis Bay 2nd Future Municipal Leaders Scholarship Competition! We encourage high school juniors and seniors who live in Middletown and are either part of the Middletown Township Public School District or the Monmouth County Vocational School District to compete for a chance to win one of three $1,000 scholarships.
The essay for the statewide scholarship competition should be approximately 500 words and focus on the theme "What My Municipal Government Does Best". All applicants must bring the completed application and essay to the Mayor's Office located at Town Hall (1 Kings Highway) by Friday, March 11th.

DPW Announces Spring 2022 Brush Collection Schedule

Our Department of Public Works and Engineering is excited to announce the spring 2022 brush collection schedule! This year's collection is expected to commence on March 21st and be completed by May 31st. Collection start dates are approximate and weather-dependent.
Residents also have the option of bringing brush and leaves to the Middletown Recycling Center (52 Kanes Lane), free of charge. Brush is accepted year-round, and leaves can be dropped off between November 1st and June 1st. Brush and leaf drop-off by landscapers is currently suspended.

MTPD Seeks Domestic Violence Response Team Volunteers: Apply by Friday, 4/8Middletown Township Police Department (MTPD) is currently recruiting volunteers to serve on the Middletown Domestic Violence Response Team (DVRT). In affiliation with 180 Turning Lives Around (180), and with the assistance of the response team volunteers, MTPD continues to make this free, 24/7 confidential service available to victims of domestic violence in the aftermath of a highly emotional and traumatic experience.
180 will be conducting the mandatory 40-hour training course for new DVRT volunteers April 26th-May 18th, from 6:00 - 9:30 PM, in-person and via Zoom, on Tuesdays/Wednesdays/Thursdays. Applications are currently being accepted through Friday, April 8th. The first week of training will be in-person at the Holmdel Community Center (6 Crawfords Corner Road), the second and third weeks will be held via Zoom, and the fourth week will be in-person at the Ocean Township Courtroom (399 Monmouth Road). The fourth and final week will take place on Monday, May 16th, Tuesday, May 17th, and Wednesday, May 18th. Please contact Sgt. MTPL'S WISE Program for Seniors Begins Thursday, 3/3

The Middletown Township Public Library is launching a virtual six-week program for senior citizens called WISE (Wellness Initiative for Senior Education)! Each session will cover a specific topic via Zoom every Thursday at 10 AM. Participants are invited to attend as many sessions as they would like.
Pamela A. Schott will be the program's first presenter and will discuss "Understanding the Changes Associated with Aging" on Thursday, March 3rd. Registration is required.

Dribble, dish, & swish your way to victory at Middletown Recreation's March Madness event on Wednesday, March 16th from 5 - 7 PM! Come to Croydon Hall (900 Leonardville Road) and showcase your basketball skills against your peers by competing in your specific age division. Competitors are timed on the ability to complete a basketball skills course which challenges the participants to dribble, pass, and shoot accurately and as quickly as possible.
Registration will take place via CommunityPass and cost $5 per player. The competition is open to participants ages 6 and older. Participants are also encouraged to bring a nonperishable food to donate. All donations received will be given to Middletown Social Services to be distributed to residents in need.
