MTPD Announces Police Youth Week 2022 Dates:Registration Opens Monday, 2/21 at 10 AM

|
|
|
The Middletown Township Police Department (MTPD) will be hosting its annual Police Youth Week program this summer from June 27th to July 1st for children between the ages of 8 and 11, July 18th to July 22nd for children between the ages of 8 and 11, and August 15th to August 19th for children between the ages of 12 and 13. Each program begins on a Monday and ends on a Friday.
Registration will begin on Monday, February 21st at 10 AM. Registration will only take place through Middletown Recreation's CommunityPass.

COVID-19 Vaccine and Booster Shot Clinic at MTPL Closing After Wednesday, 2/23 Due to Lack of Demand

Middletown Township joined forces with the VNA of Central Jersey Community Health Center a few months ago to provide COVID-19 vaccines and booster shots at the Middletown Township Public Library. The clinics will be ending next week due to lack of demand. The last clinic will be held on Wednesday, February 23rd from 10 AM to 5:30 PM. Walk-ins can receive their vaccines and booster shots after 11:30 AM. There will not be a clinic on Monday, February 21st in observance of Presidents' Day.

PI Sports, a Kentucky-based firm, has been engaged by Middletown Township and the Middletown Township Board of Education to conduct a needs assessment and future-use analysis of a proposed indoor sports and recreation facility in Port Monmouth. Your responses to this survey will help us evaluate potential opportunities for this proposed facility. The survey will only take about 5 minutes to complete. Please respond by Friday, February 25th. DPW Announces Spring 2022 Brush Collection Schedule

Our Department of Public Works and Engineering (DPW) is excited to announce the spring 2022 brush collection schedule! This year's collection is expected to commence on March 21st and be completed by May 31st. Collection start dates are approximate and weather-dependent.
Residents also have the option of bringing brush and leaves to the Middletown Recycling Center (52 Kanes Lane), free of charge. Brush is accepted year-round, and leaves can be dropped off between November 1st and June 1st. Brush and leaf drop-off by landscapers is currently suspended.

New Jersey American Water Invests $2.5 Million in Middletown Infrastructure
This week, New Jersey American Water began replacing approximately 9,820 feet of aging water main in the Port Monmouth section of Middletown. The project also includes replacing two fire hydrants and 186 utility-owned service lines along the pipeline route. The company will upgrade the aging 2- and 6-inch cast iron water lines that were installed in the 1940s with new 8-inch ductile iron main along the entire length of the following streets: Briarcliff Place, Grace Avenue, Mercer Avenue, Mills Avenue, Hudson Avenue, Montana Avenue, York Avenue, Eastmond Place, and Texas Avenue. New Jersey American Water’s local, qualified contractor, J. F. Kiely Construction Co. began work on Monday, February 14th, and expects to be completed within approximately three months, weather permitting. Work hours will be from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Work outside of these hours is not expected unless required to maintain project schedule. Final street restorations will be completed in the summer.

Register Your Children for the MAC's School's Out Day Camp for Monday, 2/21

Are your children in elementary school and off on Monday, February 21st for Presidents' Day? Register them for the Middletown Arts Center's (MAC) School's Out Day Camp, formerly known as the Day Off From School Program. The camp takes place at the MAC Annex, which is located at the Middletown Reformed Church (121 Kings Highway).
The MAC offers full and half-day camp programming for elementary school students when the Middletown Township Public School District is closed. Young students are invited to fill their day off from school with crafting, doodling, and more creative activities with Miss Fish, the Doodle Dude, and friends!
Prices: Full-day: $75 from 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM Half-day: $38 from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM or 12:30 PM - 3:30 PM

MTPL's Teen Job Series Begins Wednesday, 2/23 at 7 PM

The Middletown Township Public Library will kick off its four-part Teen Jobs Series this month with a Teen Resume Writing Workshop on Wednesday, February 23rd at 7 PM! Registration is required.
The series is geared toward current high school and college students between the ages of 16 and 22, with the intention of helping get them job-ready in the months leading up to summer.

Mark your calendars! Registration for Middletown Recreation's four camps begins on Tuesday, March 15th for residents and on Tuesday, March 22nd for non-residents. Registration opens at 10 AM on both dates.
Registration is done online via Recreation's CommunityPass website. Recreation recommends that users log in a few days before the registration dates to ensure you have access to your account and that all your information is up-to-date. If you don't have an account, please create one.

Dribble, dish, & swish your way to victory at Middletown Recreation's March Madness event on Wednesday, March 16th from 5 - 7 PM! Come to Croydon Hall (900 Leonardville Road) and showcase your basketball skills against your peers by competing in your specific age division. Competitors are timed on the ability to complete a basketball skills course which challenges the participants to dribble, pass, and shoot accurately and as quickly as possible.
Registration will take place via CommunityPass and cost $5 per player. The competition is open to participants ages 6 and older. Participants are also encouraged to bring a nonperishable food to donate. All donations received will be given to Middletown Social Services to be distributed to residents in need. Weekly COVID-19 Testing Center at Train Station Closed Due to Lack of Demand

Monmouth County Partners with Vault Health and Brookdale Community College to Provide State-funded COVID-19 Testing Site
The Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners and Vault Health have partnered to provide a COVID-19 testing site at Brookdale Community College’s Robert J. Collins Arena, which is being funded by the New Jersey Department of Health.
The testing site will be open at least three days per week through February with saliva PCR tests and rapid antigen tests available. Results will be provided for PCR tests in 24 to 48 hours.
