Volunteers Needed for Middletown Township Police Department Domestic Violence Response Team 

The Middletown Township Police Department is currently recruiting volunteers to serve on the Middletown Domestic Violence Response Team (DVRT). In affiliation with 180 Turning Lives Around and with the assistance of the response team volunteers, the Middletown Township Police Department continues to make available this service to victims of domestic violence during the initial stages of a highly emotional and traumatic experience. 

The volunteer advocates with 180’s DVRT Program are civilian members of the community who work collaboratively with law enforcement to provide confidential support, information, and referrals to victims of domestic violence at Middletown Township Police Headquarters. 

Basic requirements for volunteers to apply include that they must be eighteen years of age or older, have access to reliable transportation, possess a valid driver’s license, be willing to serve on an on-call shift basis, participate in an interview process, submit to background investigations and fingerprinting, and successfully complete the mandatory training. Click HERE to fill out a volunteer application.

Middletown Township and New Jersey Natural Gas to Provide Free Energy Audits to Income-Qualified Residents

Middletown Township and New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG) announced a pilot program to provide free energy audits to income-eligible residents. The program is designed to help qualified NJNG customers in Middletown identify energy-efficiency opportunities to help lower their energy bills.

Those who are not eligible based on their income can still sign up for a Comprehensive Home Energy Audit Analysis for $250 and receive a free ecobee4 Smart Thermostat.

Passport Acceptance Fees will Increase from $25 to $35 Starting on April 2nd 

The U.S. Department of State — Bureau of Consular Affairs has announced that passport acceptance fees will increase from $25 to $35 beginning on April 2nd. 

If you are planning on traveling this year, you may want to make an appointment prior to April 2nd at the Middletown Town Hall Passport Office located in the Township Clerk's Office (1 Kings Highway). The Clerk's Office processes passports and provides photo services all in one location.

The $10 execution fee increase only applies to new U.S. passport applicants, such as first-time applicants over 16, children under 16, and applicants who re-apply after reporting their previous passport lost or stolen. The $10 fee increase does not apply to adults eligible to renew their passport by mail.

Dog License Renewals — Avoid Late Fees 

The Middletown Health Department would like to remind residents that all dog licenses should have been renewed by Jan 31st. If you haven’t renewed yet, please do so before the next late fee increase starts on March 1st.

All dogs and cats must be licensed in Middletown. Click HERE to fill out a license online. You may also obtain a license at the Health Department Office (180 Main Street, Port Monmouth) or through the mail. Call 732-615-2097 or click HERE for more information.
