Community Members and Causes Recognized at September 18th Township Committee Meeting
Several proclamations were accepted at the September 18th Township Committee Meeting.
- September 23, 2017 was proclaimed as Middletown Day. Recreation Director Janet Dellett and Assistant Director of Public Works Victor Wymbs accepted the proclamation.
- September 2017 was also proclaimed as National Preparedness Month. Office of Emergency Management (OEM) Coordinator Charlie Rogers accepted the proclamation along with fellow OEM members.
- October 2017 was proclaimed as National Substance Abuse Prevention Month. Bob Bucco, Municipal Alliance Chairperson and Crossroads Municipal Alliance Coordinator, Fern Foster, accepted the proclamation.
Mayor Gerry Scharfenberger and the Middletown Township Committee also commended the Jersey Shore Workcamp for their years of efforts to improve the lives of disabled, low-income, and elderly people. Mission Project Coordinators, Bill and Gail Bechtoldt, accepted the proclamation.
September 2017 was also officially recognized as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and October 28, 2017 was proclaimed as Make a Difference Day (more info about that below).
To top it all off, Middletown Police K-9 "Tupac" received an award (and a dog cake!) in recognition of his 8 years of faithful and dedicated service to the Middletown Township Police Department. Click HERE
