Officer Mark Ward Promoted to Sergeant
Officer Mark Ward's wife Nazlie pinned him after he was sworn in as a sergeant while his mother Joan Hando looked on. 

Middletown Township Police Officer Mark Ward Promoted to Sergeant 


Middletown Township Police Officer Mark Ward was promoted to Sergeant at the December 18th Township Committee meeting.

Sergeant Ward, a long-time resident of Belford and a graduate of Middletown High School North, was hired by the Middletown Township Police Department in April of 1994. During his tenure with the Township, he has served primarily with the Patrol Division, with a brief four-year tour as Supervising Firearms Instructor at the Middletown Township Firearms Range. He was also a member of the Department's Emergency Services Unit for 10 years and is currently one of the Department's Firearms, OC Spray and Stop Stick Instructors.

A military veteran, Officer Ward met his wife Nazlie while stationed in Capetown, South Africa. They have two children, Shawn and Rebecca.

Grace Barker's Retirement

Congratulations to Tom Garretson for receiving a certificate for Outstanding Community Service. Tom has been an integral part of our town and a founding member of the Veterans Affairs Committee. Middletown is a better place because of you, Tom! 
Ekne Montalvo Proclamation
Middletown Township Police Officer Ekne Montalvo received a proclamation for his dedication and passion in aiding those affected by the hurricanes in Puerto Rico. We thank you for your extraordinary service.
Cross Country Certificate
Congratulations to the Middletown High School South Girls Cross Country Team for winning the NJSIAA North II Group III State Sectional Championship this season as well as winning the Shore Conference Championship for the first time in the school’s history! 
Girls Soccer Team Certificate
Congratulations to the Middletown High School South Varsity Girls Soccer Team for winning the NJSIAA North II Group III State Sectional Championship this season and reaching the State Final for the first time since 2000!

Mayor Gerry Scharfenberger swore in Sergeant Mark Ward at the meeting. His wife Nazlie held the Bible while his mother Joan Hando proudly looked on. Congratulations to Sergeant Ward!
Garbage and Recycling Program Start Dates

Parent Information Program: New Kindergarten Registration Procedures 


The Middletown Township Public School District announced that they will hold a Parent Information Program for parents of children who are eligible to enter kindergarten next year on Wednesday, January 10th at 7 PM in the Middletown High School North Theater.

The session will include information on the new kindergarten registration process, as well as various aspects of student life including student health, the lunch program and before/after care opportunities. Click HERE for more information.

2017 Holiday House Light Contest
The Middletown PBA is collecting toys for the Annual PBA Toy Drive. They are supporting the following foundations this holiday season: Middletown Helps Its Own, Jason's Dreams for Kids, and 180 Turning Lives Around. All toys can be dropped off at Middletown Twp. Police Headquarters and will be collected until TOMORROW, December 23rd at 6pm.

Jersey Central Power & Light is encouraging residents to keep safety in mind when heating your home this winter season.
