Middletown Township held its annual reorganization meeting on Sunday, January 7th. Ryan Clarke and Kimberly Kratz, who were elected in November, were sworn into the Township Committee to serve their three-year terms. Father Jeff Kegley of Saint Mary, Mother of God Church performed the invocation and Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden led the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Township Committee selected Tony Perry to serve his sixth consecutive year as mayor. Rick Hibell was chosen to serve as deputy mayor for his fourth consecutive year. Mayor Perry and Deputy Mayor Hibell are also the longest-serving mayor and deputy mayor leadership team in Middletown's history.

The 2024 Middletown Township Fire Department (MTFD) and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) chiefs were also sworn in by Mayor Perry. Additionally, Middletown volunteers who were appointed to various boards, commissions, and committees were given their Oath of Office.

Congratulations to everyone and thank you for your dedication to our community!

Troop 110 Boy Scout Soars to Eagle Scout Rank

Mayor Tony Perry and Eagle Scout Andrew Seckular shake hands

Mayor Tony Perry personally congratulates Eagle Scout Andrew Seckular on his achievement.

Last week, Andrew Seckular from Boy Scout Troop 110 of Lincroft advanced to the impressive rank of Eagle Scout. Mayor Tony Perry attended his Eagle Scout Court of Honor ceremony to personally congratulate him and present him with a certificate on behalf of the Township Committee.

Eagle Scouts must complete service projects to earn this prestigious title. For his project, Andrew fundraised and installed five bike racks placed conveniently along the boardwalk in Bradley Beach. His goal was to ease congestion in the area as well as promote bicycles as an alternative mode of transportation around town. With the help of many scout and adult volunteers, he was able to prep the land and install concrete bases to create a product that can be used by the community.

Congratulations to Andrew, who was also an intern for the Middletown Clerk's Office this past summer! Please join us in wishing him continued success.

On Wednesday, Mayor Tony Perry met with two Girl Scout troops back to back! Troop 60049 had the honor of kicking off the eventful evening. The troop, which consists of girls from grades 4-6 at Lincroft Elementary School, Fairview Elementary School, and Saint Mary's School, are focusing on community support and services this year. Their meeting with Mayor Perry taught them a lot about their community from a government perspective.

After Troop 60049, Mayor Perry met with Troop 223 which consists of both Junior and Daisy Scouts. They are currently working toward their Democracy Badges, so they came prepared with lots of questions and excitement to learn about how local government works and how their voices can be hard.

We applaud these troops for their eagerness to learn!
