Prior to Courage Red being recognized for their championships, Monmouth County Clerk Christine Giordano Hanlon, Esq. and Monmouth County Commissioner Director Tom Arnone spoke about the County's America250 campaign as chair and co-chair of that committee. Ted Maturo, the committee's executive director, was also in attendance. America250 is the County's years-long initiative to celebrate America's 250th anniversary in 2026 and the significant role that Monmouth County played in the fight for independence, as well as our rich history. The Committee is visiting municipalities across Monmouth County to generate awareness about activities leading up to this historical milestone, and Middletown was honored to be the first stop! The Township Committee recently passed a resolution endorsing RevolutionNJ, New Jersey's organization that will spearhead the state's celebration, and Monmouth County's America250 initiative. Visit www.monmouthNJ250.org for more information and follow @MonmouthNJ250 on Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly known as Twitter), and YouTube. October is Fire Prevention Month! The Middletown Township Fire Department (MTFD) recognized this by making special visits to Middletown Preschool and New Monmouth Elementary School. Belford Engine Fire Company stopped by New Monmouth Elementary School last week to share safety tips and other critical information about what to do if a fire starts at home. The firefighters brought their mobile fire safety training unit, which is a portable trailer that resembles what students may encounter in their home setting before and during a fire emergency. The mobile fire safety training unit offered students a hands-on experience where they could apply the knowledge they learned from the safety demonstration in an authentic environment. Port Monmouth Fire Company came to Middletown Preschool earlier this week and taught the students about fire drills and allowed them to explore different types of equipment. This visit gave the preschoolers a new appreciation for firefighters and how they keep us safe!

Last weekend, Belford Engine Fire Company held a wetdown - both literally and ceremonially - for the newest engine in the MTFD's fleet! Thank you to all our volunteers for their continued dedication to serving and protecting our residents. The MTFD is the world's largest all-volunteer fire department, and it is important that they have the best equipment possible so they can stay safe and successfully help others. Middletown is proud to support our first responders!

Tap into Federal Housing Administration’s 203(k) Program to Help Rehab or Renovate Your Home
If you want to finance the purchase of a home that needs rehabilitation or finance improvements to your current home, the Federal Housing Administration’s (FHA) Section 203(k) Rehabilitation Mortgage Insurance Program (203(k) Program) may be the right choice for you. This program is available through FHA-approved lenders and allows homebuyers to finance the purchase of a home or homeowners to refinance a current mortgage, combining the cost of renovations, repairs, or remodeling into a single loan. The program permits homebuyers and homeowners to have home repair improvements incorporated into their mortgage. This way you can quickly and easily tap into cash to pay for property repairs or improvements, such as those identified by a home inspector or an FHA appraiser. Those who are buying a home can make it move-in ready by remodeling the kitchen, painting the interior, or purchasing new carpet. Homeowners can make property repairs, improvements, or prepare their home for sale. The 203(k) Program is also often used to rebuild or repair after a natural disaster such as a flood or hurricane. It is also available to HUD-approved non-profit organizations and government agencies. For more information and resources, check out this pamphlet (PDF).
