Residents came out in droves to support the Middletown Township Police Department (MTPD) and PBA Local 124 at Middletown High School North on Tuesday, August 1st for the 40th anniversary of National Night Out.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. MTPD officers engaged with the public by giving demonstrations of equipment, the K-9 unit, and impaired driving simulators. They were also good sports by participating in the dunk tank!

Township Committee members, County law enforcement, and local organizations were able to connect with the community while residents of all ages enjoyed fun activities like fingerprinting, games, going on inflatables, playing instruments and doing karaoke at the DJ booth, watching a New Jersey State Police helicopter flyover, and stopping by food trucks for a snack.

MTPD and Mayor Welcome Visitor Promoting Autism Awareness Across 5 States

Alex Mann Visits MTPD and Mayor's Office

MTPD Detective Ric Cruz stopped by with Alex to visit with Mayor Perry and Committeewoman Kim Kratz at Town Hall.

On Friday, August 4th, the Middletown Township Police Department (MTPD) was honored to welcome Alex Mann, a 23-year-old from Chester County, PA, to Police Headquarters. Alex, who is autistic, has visited police departments in five states (NJ, PA, DE, MD, and CA) to show support for law enforcement as well as educate officers about how to better interact with people on the spectrum.

Alex began his journey in 2018 and will have visited 400 police departments by next week. MTPD was his 397th stop, but he told us that this was the first time he received an "Honorary Officer" shirt with his name embroidered on it!

During his visit, Alex met with MTPD officers, including the newest patrol dog, K-9 Dallas, and checked out the police vehicles. He then ventured over to the Town Hall side of the building where Mayor Perry and Committeewoman Kim Kratz presented him with a Middletown Township challenge coin to add to his impressive collection.

We wish Alex well as he continues to spread his message and show support for law enforcement agencies.

The dog park at Tindall Park (across the street from Middletown High School North) is almost ready for visitors! The parking lot has been paved and striped, the agility courses have been installed, and there is a fenced-in area beyond the obstacles that allows your pup to explore the forest.

Additionally, there are separate areas for large and small dogs, benches for dog owners, and water fountains for both people and dogs.

This project is funded through several initiatives, including a grant from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Green Acres Program. The park is expected to open to the public by the end of the month.
