Local residents and business owners line up for the Q&A.

Last night, Middletown Township held a public information session about the Route 36 Corridor Redevelopment Project. Mayor Tony Perry opened the meeting by addressing the packed room at VFW Post 2179 in Port Monmouth. Attendees included residents, business owners, and members of the Township Committee, Planning Board, and Zoning Board of Adjustment. Mayor Perry expressed the Township’s desire to get input from property and business owners within the redevelopment investigation study area about what they envision the Route 36 corridor to look like. Township Administrator Tony Mercantante then gave an overarching view of what this project would entail and introduced Stan Slachetka who was representing T&M Associates and is handling the redevelopment investigation study. Community members were invited to ask questions throughout the presentation, as well as view the boards of the areas along the corridor that will be part of the project. If you would like to view the boards in person, please feel free to drop by the Planning Department on the first floor (middle floor) of Town Hall at 1 Kings Highway. There will be future Planning Board Hearings and community meetings and anyone is welcome to attend. Please visit www.middletownnj.org/rt36 to view the presentation, review the digital versions of the boards, and watch the meeting. Additional hearing and meeting dates and information will be posted on this page, so please check back for updates. We also encourage community members to follow Middletown Township on its various social media platforms for notifications (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube).

Middletown Animal Control Co-Hosts TNR Public Information Session with Monmouth County SPCA
Monmouth County SPCA Executive Director Ross Licitra addresses the crowd of residents.
On Wednesday, residents came to Town Hall to participate in a public information session about instituting a TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) Program in Middletown. Middletown Animal Control partnered with Monmouth County SPCA and Homeward Bound Adoption Center to host this educational event. Monmouth County SPCA Executive Director Ross Licitra spearheaded the conversation in which he explained the benefits, rules, and regulations of TNR. TNR is a humane solution to minimizing the number of feral cats in our area, who typically live together in a colony. It involves trapping stray cats, sterilizing and vaccinating them to prevent diseases and overpopulation, and returning them to where they were found. Once they are returned, colony caregivers regularly visit them and provide food and shelter. Some residents signed up to be colony caregivers at the event! Thank you to everyone who attended and showed interest in the program.
