On Monday, May 31st, Middletown Township held its annual Memorial Day Parade to remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. The parade followed a two-mile route that began at Bayshore Middle School and ended at the World War II Monument at Croydon Hall where community members listened to a bagpiper. Then, "Taps" was played after Middletown World War II and Korean War veteran John Alonzo raised then lowered the flag to half-staff. To close the ceremony, Mayor Tony Perry expressed the importance of remembering the brave men and women who "laid their lives on the altar of freedom, so that we may be forever free."
A variety of organizations participated in the parade, including the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps Color Guard, dignitaries, local Scout troops, horses, antique cars and motorcycle groups, as well as 60 patriotic bikers. Our first responders also came out in full force blaring the sirens on their vehicles!
Thank you to the organizations and residents who lined the streets to support our fallen heroes! Click HERE to view photos from the Memorial Day Parade.

Friends of Cedar View Cemetery is a group of family descendants, historians, and citizens who have made it their mission to preserve the cemetery and its history.

NJ Poison Center Advisory: Common Summer Poisoning HazardsWith the unofficial start to summer upon us and the easing of many COVID-19 restrictions, New Jersey residents are ready to get out and enjoy the warm weather. While we must continue following proven safety protocols to limit the spread of COVID-19, we also need to protect our health from common summer hazards that have the potential to cause serious poisoning injury.
Summer is meant to be spent outdoors having fun, not in the emergency room/department. Keep your friends and families safe by being aware of potential poisoning hazards that lurk in and around our homes during the summer. Click HERE to read the original press release that includes 10 poison safety strategies and was published by the New Jersey Poison Center.
