Field of Flags

On Saturday, November 7th, Westminster Presbyterian Church (WPC) held its annual Field of Flags ceremony on the church's grounds (94 Tindall Road). This year’s memorial displayed 7,002 flags to represent each serviceman or woman who lost their life in the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan in defense of our great Nation. WPC's Field of Flags service is a poignant reminder of the true cost of the freedoms we enjoy today.

Town Hall (1 Kings Highway) will be lit up green through Friday, 11/20 to pay tribute to our veterans in Middletown and across the country as part of the National Greenlight a Vet campaign. We encourage you to change your porch light, or any other front-facing light in your home, to green to join us in thanking all those who have served. To help share your support, take a picture of your green light and post it to social media using the hashtags #greenlightavet #MiddletownNJ.  You can also post the “Thank You To Our Middletown Veterans” sign that ran in the Fall issue of Middletown Matters in your window to show your support or click here to access the image and print it.

NJ Poison Control Center Warns Community About Potential Misuse of Hand Sanitizers

In the COVID-19 era, alcohol-based hand sanitizers are not just a household staple, they are an everyday necessity. Since becoming part of our daily defense against coronavirus infection, these products are kept just about everywhere — from vehicles to handbags/backpacks to lunchboxes. Although hand sanitizers play an important role in preventing infection and slowing the spread of COVID-19, these products can result in potentially serious health consequences. In fact, hand sanitizers carry a potential for misuse, abuse and accidental exposure which can lead to alcohol overdose (poisoning).
