The Mayor and Township Committee have proclaimed November 27th as Track Friday to encourage residents to put in some miles at the High School North track instead of the shopping mall this year.
Track Friday, a homegrown event born in the wake of Superstorm Sandy in 2012, is held annually at the Middletown North Track on the day after Thanksgiving to promote activity, volunteerism and charity on a day that is commonly associated with commercialism. Participants choose a charity to support and solicit donors to pledge money to sponsor their participation. On the day of the event, participants run, walk, or even push strollers around the track in support of their selected charity.
In four years, participants have raised over $60,000 for dozens of charities with Track Fridays popping up all over the country.
At their Razoo team page you can create your own fundraiser for a cause you care about or simply support a charity that is already being sponsored.
