New Jersey Transit will be performing maintenance on the railroad crossing at Church Street beginning Thursday, November 8th. Weather permitting, the work is expected to take 7 days, including the weekend, to complete. During this time, Church Street will be completely closed to vehicles, but open for pedestrian movement. Detours will be put in place.
"The Township has been asking NJT to address the condition of the railroad crossing for quite some time, so we are pleased that this work will finally commence to make it safer for our drivers and residents," said Township Administrator Tony Mercantante.
The Board of Education is aware of the schedule for this work and will address school bus routes accordingly.
