Due to concerns regarding West Nile Virus, Monmouth County Mosquito Control has scheduled an adult mosquito control operation from 11:00 pm on Wednesday, August 16th until 1:00 am on Thursday, August 17th in a small portion of Port Monmouth and Belford, including the ferry terminal area and Belford landfill. This timeframe is to accommodate ferry commuters with the last ferry arriving at 10:00 pm.

Mosquito control will be using the product Duet Dual-Action® adulticide which contains a synergist that excites the resting mosquitoes at off-peak hours. The spray equipment is mounted in the bed of a pick-up truck and emits an Ultra-Low Volume (ULV) mist of pesticide. Click HERE for a fact sheet about Duet.
They will be expanding trapping and testing of mosquitoes in adjacent neighborhoods and will act accordingly based on results.
While the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency does not require special precautions to be taken, those wishing to limit their exposure should stay indoors, bring in children’s toys and pet bowls, and turn off the intake fan in window air conditioners.
The operation is weather dependent. Weather cancellations will be posted as soon as possible. Visit www.visitmonmouth.com/mosquito or call the county hotline at 732-578-1600.
