[ARCHIVED] MTPD Arrest Man Following Motor Vehicle Crash

Middletown, NJ – On July 23, 2025, Chief of Police R. Craig Weber announced that officers of the Middletown Township Police Department (MTPD) arrested a man following the investigation of a motor vehicle crash involving two passenger cars and one motorcycle.

On July 21, 2025 at approximately 12:45 PM, MTPD responded to a report of a crash in the area of State Route 35 and Cherry Tree Farm Road. When officers arrived, they learned that the motorcycle fled the area immediately after the crash. 

The motorcycle and the driver were then located by Ptl. Salvatore Albanese in the area of Wilson Avenue and State Route 36. As the officer approached, the driver ran from the scene. Ptl. Albanese and Detective Lieutenant Brian McGrogan apprehended the suspect following a brief foot chase. The driver was identified as Michael Crupi, 48, of Parsippany. Investigation showed that the motorcycle was previously reported stolen out of Wall Township.

Crupi was charged with Receiving Stolen Motor Vehicle, Obstruction, Resisting Arrest, Possession of Suspected Crack Cocaine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Burglar’s Tools, Unlawful Possession of a Knife, Credit Card Theft, False Documents, Driving While Intoxicated, Unlicensed Driver, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Failure to Report an Accident, and several other motor vehicle violations.  

Crupi was processed and subsequently lodged in the Monmouth County Correctional Institute in Freehold.

Any persons arrested or charged with offenses are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Additionally, except in specific circumstances, arrest and complaint information and names of those charged may be released.
