Revaluation

The 2009 Tax Books are available at the Middletown Tax Assessor’s Office for inspection. Residents can obtain a copy of their Property Record Card (PRC) upon request in person at the Assessor’s Office. The Assessor’s Office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is located in the Johnson Gill Annex at Town Hall, 1 Kings Highway

The revaluation is complete and has been submitted to the Monmouth County Board of Taxation. In order to challenge a property value, a tax appeal must be filed with the Monmouth County Board of Taxation. The deadline to file an appeal for the 2009 Tax Year was May 1, 2009. (In a taxing district where a municipal-wide revaluation or municipal-wide reassessment has been implemented the appeal filing deadline is extended to May 1.)

In 2010 and subsequent tax years, an appeal must be received (not merely postmarked) by the County Tax Board on or before April 1st of the tax year. An appeal received after the close of business hours on the applicable filing deadline date is untimely filed and will result in dismissal of the appeal. If the last day for filing an appeal falls on a Saturday, Sunday or legal holiday, the last day shall be extended to the first succeeding business day.

The Monmouth County Board of Taxation provides a guide to help property owners understand the process and the form needed to process a tax appeal.
