Garbage Collection Guidelines
Garbage collection is categorized into two types of collections: Type 10 solid waste and Bulky waste.
Type 10 waste is normal household garbage. Type 10 solid waste is collected twice a week, in each garbage collection zone, in containers no larger than 32 gallons in size and weighing no more than 50 pounds each, placed at the curb the night before the scheduled collection day. No brush, leaves, grass clippings, dead animals, tires, household appliances, demolition and building materials, or mandated recyclable items will be accepted in a Type 10 solid waste pick-up. The Township contractor collects garbage from residents six days a week, not on Sunday, and the only holidays it is not collected are Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years.
Bulky waste is defined as fixtures and furniture, Christmas trees, tree branches and limbs tied securely in bundles not more than 6 feet in length and weighing not more than 75 pounds, and other refuse of a similar nature and kind. Building and demolition material, yard debris, stumps trees and branches not in bundles are not included. Household major appliances, electrical and plumbing fixtures are also excluded from bulk refuse collection. Currently there are two bulky waste collection days each month. The first bulk day is the second collection day of the week (Thursday, Friday or Saturday) of the first full week of solid waste collection (Monday through Saturday) in each month. The second bulk collection day is the second collection day of the week in each zone during the third full week of garbage collection in each zone.
