Deputy Chief Schwedes

Deputy Chief Schwedes began his police career with the Middletown Township Police Department on March 7, 1990, where he was assigned to the Patrol Division, after graduation from the Monmouth County Police Academy 39th Class.  On September 1, 1997 Schwedes was appointed Detective and reassigned to the Detective Bureau. 

He was assigned the responsibility for the investigation of juvenile matters.  Schwedes was appointed to Sergeant on August 18, 1998 and reassigned to the Patrol Division as a Road Supervisor.  On March 21, 2005 Schwedes was transferred to Police Administration and assigned the responsibility as Administrative Assistant within the office.  On January 4, 2009 he was promoted to Lieutenant and reassigned as a Shift Commander in the Patrol Division.  On September 20, 2010 Schwedes was promoted to his current rank of Deputy Chief in charge of Professional Responsibilities and Training.

Deputy Chief Schwedes earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Services from Thomas Edison State College and is currently attending Fairleigh Dickinson University working on a Masters Degree in Administrative Science.  He has also attended many training courses including the 240th session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Va. and the West Point Command and Leadership Program.

Deputy Chief Schwedes is married and has two children.
