Domestic Partnerships may only be registered by individuals who are each 62 years of age or older, are the same sex or opposite sex, and meet all other requirements for being deemed eligible to register as domestic partners. Please allow at least a minimum of one month with a maximum of 3 to 6 months before the scheduled event to obtain an appointment to ensure any conflict with your intended ceremony day.
If you are presently registered as domestic partners, you may file for a Civil Union if filing with the same partner.
The couples must meet the following requirements:

- Both persons are jointly responsible for each other's common welfare as evidenced by joint financial arrangements or joint ownership of real or personal property;
- Both persons agree to be jointly responsible for each other's basic living expenses during the domestic partnership;
- Neither applicant is in a marriage or civil union recognized by New Jersey law or a member of another domestic partnership;
- Both persons have chosen to share each other's lives in a committed relationship of mutual caring;
- Neither person is related to the other by blood or affinity up to and including the fourth degree of consanguinity.

- If your former spouse is deceased, please bring a certified copy of the death certificate.
