Traffic and Safety Bureau
The Middletown Township Police Traffic Bureau consists of a Lieutenant (Officer-in-Charge), a Sergeant and five Patrolmen.
The Primary responsibility of the Traffic Safety Bureau is the investigation of Serious and Fatal Motor Vehicle Crashes. They are also responsible to help reduce Motor Vehicle Crashes and Injuries.
The Traffic Safety Bureau is responsible for overseeing the Crossing Guards, who are positioned throughout the Township of Middletown during the school year. Crossing Guard Positions exist within the Traffic Safety Bureau at all times. It is also the Bureau's responsiblity to oversee the Parking Enforcement Officer.
The Traffic Safety Bureau will assist the motoring public whenever possible. They enforce all New Jersey State Traffic Laws as well as the Traffic Laws in the Township of Middletown.
Additionally, they will also provide a service whereas upon making an appointment a resident may bring their vehicle and Child Carseat in to have the Traffic Safety Officer instruct them on the proper method of installing the child carseat into their vehicle. This service is provided by appointment only, on Thursdays and Fridays when staffing levels permit.
