Committeeman Thomas P. Wilkens
Committeeman Thomas P. Wilkens began to serve a three-year term on the Township Committee in 2006. Wilkens currently serves on the Middletown Township Open Space Committee, the Municipal Alliance for the Prevention of Alcohol and Drug Abuse, and the Parks and Recreation Master Plan Steering Committee.
Wilkens grew up in Middletown and graduated from Saint Mary’s School in New Monmouth and Christian Brothers Academy in Lincroft. He is an Olympic bronze medalist and was captain of the U.S. Olympic Men’s Swim Team at the 2000 Summer Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. The former world champion and American record holder still works as a motivational speaker and teacher. Wilkens served on the Board of Directors of USA Swimming, Inc., and was a member of the U.S. Olympic Trials Selection Committee.
Wilkens holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Stanford University, with an emphasis on International and Comparative Politics. He is currently employed as a Marketing Manager for Professional Risk Placements, LLC, in Red Bank. He and his wife, Stephanie, have a 3-year-old-son named Bryce Peter and a newborn daughter named Kasey Gayle.
