Home Generated Medical Waste Program
The Middletown Township Health Department will accept home generated syringes and needles used in the administration of injectable medications from Township residents (proof of residency is required).
All waste must be properly packaged in the following manner:
1) Placed in a properly labeled sharps container (needles do not need to be clipped).
OR
2) Placed in a rigid plastic container with a screw top, such as a 2 liter soda bottle or laundry detergent bottle. The needles must be clipped (clippers are sold at pharmacies) and the needle and syringe body placed in the plastic container. Secure the screw top and label,
"WARNING-NEEDLES"
After the waste has been properly packaged, contact the Middletown Township Health Department at (732) 615-2096 to make an appointment to bring it to our office located at
3 Penelope Lane. Due to medical waste tracking regulations, persons showing up without an appointment will not have their waste accepted.
