Newspaper Guidelines

Newsprint must be tied with sturdy string, twine, or cord and placed at the curb or dropped off at the Kanes Lane Recycling Center in bundles, no larger than 12 inches in height.

Newspapers will not be collected when tied with masking tape, stockings, or placed in paper or
plastic bags.

In order to meet new state and county recycling regulations, Middletown has adopted a new ordinance that requires MANDATORY residential recycling of CARDBOARD and MIXED PAPER in addition to bottles, cans and newsprint. CARDBOARD and MIXED PAPER will be collected in your Recycling Zone on the same day that is currently scheduled for newsprint curbside collection. All fiber materials (newsprint, cardboard and mixed paper) may be commingled in the same 32-gallon container for collection. The container must be kept under 50 pounds in total weight. Newsprint can continue to be tied in 12-inch bundles. Cardboard can also be tied in bundles for curbside collection.

The township Recycling Center, conveniently located at 52 Kane’s Lane, will continue to accept these materials. Call 732-615-2008 for more information.
