Parking Permits

Q: "What if I have just purchased a home or moved to Middletown and I do not have the identification cards changed over to my new address yet?"

A: You may still apply, however, we will still need your vehicle's insurance ID card, vehicle registration, your drivers license, and a copy of your home purchase contract or lease agreement reflecting a resident address.



Q: "If I live in Lincroft, Belford, Leonardo, Port Monmouth am I considered a Middletown resident?"

A: Yes, Lincroft, Belford, Port Monmouth, & Leonardo are all a part of Middletown.



Q: "I live in Middletown but the vehicle I am using is registered to a relative or friend that has an out of Middletown address. How can I obtain a sticker for the lot?"

A: You may not obtain a permit for a vehicle that is registered for any other municipalities.



Q: "If I get a permit for the train station am I guaranteed a space to park?"

A: No, you are not assigned a spot or guaranteed a spot. It’s a first come first serve basis to park daily.



Q: "I have an Atlantic Highlands, Highlands, Red Bank, Rumson, Locust, mailing address but am a resident of Middletown. How can I get a parking permit?"

A: You may still apply for a parking permit and we will research your address to be sure you are a resident of Middletown. We are aware many residents have out of town mailing addresses.



Q: "May I use the sticker for more than one vehicle?"

A: No, the parking permit is issued to the vehicle you applied for and is not transferable. If it is used on another vehicle you will be ticketed by the Middletown Police Department.



Q: "May I give my sticker to my child, sister, neighbor, since I am not using it any longer?"

A: No, the sticker cannot be transferred to another person or vehicle. Doing so will result in a ticket from the Middletown Police Department.



Q: "If I want to park near the train station how much is the metered lot on a daily basis?"

A: The Daily Metered lot is $6.00 per day. You do not pay on weekends or Holidays.



Q: "Do I have to have a permit to park at the train station on Weekends?"

A: No, you do not need a permit to park at any of the municipal lots 5pm – 5 am on weekdays, weekends, or holidays.



Q: "If I buy a permit for the Satellite Lot may I use it for the Bus lots on RT 36?"

A: Yes, this would allow you to park at the Bus lots owned by Middletown Township.



Q: "My car is going in for service; can I use another vehicle and park at the train station?"

A: No, if you are unable to utilize your permitted vehicle for any reason you may either obtain a temporary parking permit (good for up to 2 weeks) or park in the Main Train Lot Daily lot for $6 a day.



Q: "I am purchasing a new vehicle, must I obtain a new parking permit or can I just stick the old permit on my new car?"

A: No, a new permit must be obtained, permits are non-transferable. If it is used on another vehicle, you will be ticketed by the Middletown Police Department.
