Middletown Remembers September 11th: 16th Anniversary of the
World Trade Center Tragedy


Please bring a candle and join us for a moment of silence and wreath tribute on Monday, September 11th at
7:00 p.m. to honor the 37 Middletown friends and neighbors we lost 16 years ago in the World Trade Center attack.

Park at the Middletown Train Station. Tribute will be held rain or shine.

The Middletown Township Public Library will also be having a 9/11 commemoration event from noon until 5:00 p.m. 
The Computer Lab will be available for quiet reflection and remembrance. Computers will be open to the 9/11 Living Memorial site. They will also show live coverage of the Tribute of Light at the 9/11 Memorial & Museum in NYC.

Vietnam Veterans Monument Rededication Ceremony on
Saturday, September 9th


The Middletown Veterans Affairs Committee will hold a rededication ceremony on Saturday, September 9th at 11:00 a.m. for the Township’s Vietnam Veterans Monument in recognition of three names that were added.

“The Township Committee and I are truly thankful for the time and commitment our Veterans Affairs Committee has dedicated to uncovering missing names on our local veterans monuments,” said Mayor Gerry Scharfenberger. “This will be an important service for our Vietnam Veterans who were Killed in Action and their families, and a fitting tribute to honor them.”

Uras Monuments of Middletown generously donated their time and added the following names to the monument:

  • George P. Berg, Army, CWO
  • Thomas H. Birch, Marine, CPL
  • Dennis W. Klein, Army, SP4

Historic Walking Tour and Farmers and Makers Market Tomorrow, September 9th! 


Middletown Township will be holding two heritage walking tours of the Middletown Village Historic District on Saturday, September 9th at the Middletown Arts Center, located at 36 Church Street.

Both the 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. tours have reached capacity. Walk-ups will be accepted in the event space becomes available. 

Tourists are also encouraged to stop by the Middletown Farmers and Makers Market on the Great Lawn at the Middletown Arts Center from 8 a.m. until noon. There will be fresh produce, beautiful flowers and plants, handmade goods, and entertainment that will be offered. Click HERE to see the vendor list. There is free parking at the Train Station lot across the street from the Arts Center. 

Free Rabies Clinic for Cats on Saturday, 9/9

The Middletown Township Health Department will be providing free rabies vaccinations for cats only on Saturday, September 9th from 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. There will be a free clinic for dogs offered on Saturday, October 14th 7 from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. The clinics will be held at the Croydon Hall Gym, 900 Leonardville Road in Leonardo.
