Final Shipment Arrives Safely

The final shipment of supplies made it to Iraq in June 2008. Once again Middletown did such a great job there will be some hygiene items left over for the new unit that is taking their place.

In total, Middletown shipped just over TWO TONS of supplies to our adopted paratroopers in Iraq. Middletown families, civic organizations, Boy and Girl Scout troops, schools, and local businesses generously donated everything from snacks to personal hygiene items such as lip balm and eye drops to Nerf footballs and video games. Piles of cards, letters, banners and hand-decorated t-shirts from our school and camp kids also made it to Iraq

Key supporters of Middletown’s Adopt-A-Unit program are Middletown’s Office of Emergency Management, and Middletown VFW Post No. 2179 and the Parks and Recreation Department. Donations were boxed by volunteers from Middletown’s Office of Emergency Management. Shipping costs were donated by Middletown Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2179.
